
Chandrashila Trek starts from Sari village which is 231 kilometers deep in the mountains of Himalaya from Haridwar “the holy place of Hindus”, in the Uttarakhand state of India. Chandrashila trek starts from Haridwar and around a 4 day and 3-night trip, you will experience full of fun, thrill, and adventure. So many holy places you will visit during your trip in which some of them are “Rishikesh, Devprayag, Rudraprayag” and many more. On the way, you can experience the best Sunset from Chaukhamba peak, and breathtaking view of Chopta and Tungnath which makes yourself feel too close to nature. In winter you can enjoy the snowfall between November to March.
How to reach Your destination :-
By Air- The nearest airport to the Chandrashila trek is Jolly grant Airport, then it takes 6 hours to reach the starting point of trek from” Sari village”.
By Train-The nearest train station for Chandrashila trek is in Haridwar. The Railhead of Haridwar is well connected to other major cities in India.
By Road– Recently, the Indian Government working on Char Dham highway which plays an important role in the trek to Chandrashila. You have to travel near about 200 km from Haridwar by road through Private bus, taxi, and your own vehicle to reach Sari village.

Chandrashila trek Route Map :-
There are two main routes for Chandrashila trek. Both of them, have different places which are very much attractive and you can explore a lot as much as possible if you have enough time for fun and adventure on holidays.
Short Route – Jolly Grant(by Air) and Haridwar(by Train)—Rishikesh—Teen Dhara—Devprayag—Sri Nagar—Rudraprayag – Tilwada – Agastmuni – Ukhimath – Sari village(Base Camp) – Deoria Taal -Chopta – Circuit (Chopta – Tungnath – Chandrashila Peak – back to Chopta) – Haridwar.
Long Route- Jolly Grant(by Air) and Haridwar(by Train)—Rishikesh—Teen Dhara—Devprayag—Sri Nagar—Rudraprayag – Nandprayag – Karanprayag – Chamoli – Gopeshwar – Sari village(Base Camp) – Deoria Taal -Chopta – Circuit (Chopta – Tungnath – Chandrashila Peak – back to Chopta) – Haridwar.
Day 1. Haridwar/Jolly Grant to Sari Village

On the first day, you have to cover 213 kilometers from Haridwar to base camp in Sari village. You can hire a private taxi and government bus to travel, which can take time near about 6 hours 54 minutes. This village is located in Rudraprayag and famous for campsites, guesthouses and tent houses.
Day 2. Sari to Chopta

The next day, early in the morning after breakfast you have to continue your journey. A complete 3-kilometer walking distance has to covered to reach Deoria Taal (Altitude 7850 feet) from the starting point. After this, you have to travel 14 kilometers to reach Chopta. You can find 2-3 water points on the route. Many different types of plants, trees, birds and animals which you never have seen before. In the evening, you will reach Chopta and finds that a beautiful campsite is waiting for you.
Day3. Chopta -Tungnath- Chandrashila
Chandrshila Peak is around a kilometer from Chopta. First, you have to travel Chopta to Tungnath about 6.5 kilometers and then 1.5 kilometers to C Tungnath to Chandrashila. Tungnath is famous for 1000 years old Lord Shiva temple. This temple is located at an altitude of 12000 feet from the main sea level. It is also one of the highest temples of Lord Shiva in the world. Chandrashila peak (altitude 12100 feet) is famous for mesmerizing sunrise and sunset view of the Himalayas mountains. Mainly, Dunagiri, Chaukhamba, Nanda Devi, Nandaghunti and Trishul Parvat are famous mountains that can be seen from the peak. In the evening, it will take a maximum of 2 hours to reach back to Chopta from Chandrashila.
Day4. Chopta to Haridwar
On Day 4, you can head back to Haridwar from Chopta in early in the morning. It will take 9 hours to complete your journey. Chandrashila trek is one of the most thrilling treks in Uttarakhand.
