You know what… I am ok with this stunt. I have been on multiple cruises in my life time and will go on many more in the future.
On multiple occasions I have looked over the edge of the boat and thought “wow that would really blow to fall of this ship.
The ships are absolutely enormous and it sends chills down your spine on the scale of the ship.
Typically when people do dumb things I usually look at the situation and try to picture how they could have put other lives in jeopardy or the risk vs reward factor.
Obviously the risk for this jump could be ending your own life as worst case scenario. The key to this stunt is the camera.
If you didn’t film this stunt then it would have just been plain stupid. With the internet now a days this dude launched himself into a smooth 15 seconds of fame with the possibility of maybe turning it into something more.
If you have the balls to jump off a 120 ft high cruise ship I am sure he can turn that into a nice little Instagram career.
According to WRIC:
A man is reaching new heights of internet fame after his Instagram video was seen more than 75,000 times.
Nick Naydev recently boarded a cruise to Miami, Florida.
At a port stop in Nassau, Bahamas, he decided to take the plunge off the 11th story of the cruise ship into the blue water below.
Friends caught the stomach-churning moment on video.
While they sounded pretty excited to witness and record this feat for the internet, officials on the cruise ship officials were not as thrilled.
Naydev said he was not allowed back on the ship after the stunt and had to buy a plane ticket home.
Naydev declined an on-camera interview, but provided KOIN 6 News this statement:
“I am truly astonished at how this video has spread throughout the internet. I did not think this through before I jumped.
My idea was this would be a good laugh for my friends and I would just swim back to shore and continue my vacation and never thought this would be this serious.
When the security caught up with me they told me and my friends that we needed to pack our bags and leave the ship immediately and were not welcome on any of their cruise ships again.
Local police in Nassau, Bahamas were called in to pick us up from the ship, but fortunately the police thought the whole situation was amusing and did not proceed to file any legal actions.
I jumped from the 11th floor and the height must have been well over 100ft. I just hope I don’t inspire anyone to try this, because I don’t want to feel responsible for any injuries.”
